What is TheraHarmony: the Divine Expressive Arts Therapy?

A Place of Holistic, Integrative, Creative, Expressive Arts & Play Therapy

Theraharmony is a therapeutic modality designed by Wonhee Kang, DMin. The practices are grounded in the belief that the expression of spirituality is manifested in all human behaviors.

TheraHarmony acknowledges and seeks to embrace the whole-self a complex, interwoven system of body, mind, heart, and spirit. TheraHarmony combines multiple disciplines and techniques which include: Heart Prayers/Centering Prayers, Imagery and Visualization, Inner-Child Therapy, Creative & Expressive Therapy, Play Therapy, Choice/Reality Therapy, HeartMath, and Enneagram.

We based the theory and practice on Psycho-Spiritual integration. Psycho-spiritual integration emphasizes the nature of spirituality, the expression of spirituality in all human behavior, the nature of the spiritual dimension, and the influence of spirituality and human behavior on health and well-being. TheraHarmony defines spirituality as the harmony of seven qualitatively distinct dimensions, with each dimension measured on a continuum of depth.

Divine Expressive Arts Therapy (DEAT) is a form of therapy that combines the principles of expressive arts with faith-based practices to help individuals connect with their spirituality and heal from emotional and psychological issues. This therapy uses various artistic tools such as visual art, music, dance, and drama to help individuals express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Dr. Kang is the originator of the DEAT modality. In this therapy, individuals are encouraged to explore their faith and its impact on their lives. The therapist works with the individual to identify any spiritual blocks or conflicts that may be affecting their emotional well-being and helps them find ways to overcome them. The use of expressive arts allows individuals to explore their spirituality in a safe and non-judgmental environment, providing a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing.

One of the key benefits of Divine Expressive Arts Therapy is that it allows individuals to connect with their faith and spirituality on a deeper level. By exploring their beliefs and practices through artistic expression, individuals can gain a greater understanding of their faith and how it impacts their lives. This therapy can be especially helpful for individuals who have experienced trauma or are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, or addiction.

Overall, Divine Expressive Arts Therapy is a powerful form of therapy that combines creativity, spirituality, and healing. It offers individuals a unique and effective way to explore their faith and connect with their spirituality while also addressing emotional and psychological issues. If you are interested in this therapy, it is recommended that you seek out a qualified therapist who specializes in this approach.
